Not Just for Athletes
Posted on March 19, 2019
According to a recent article in Forbes magazine, Los Angeles Rams star running back Todd Gurley has struggled with nagging knee pain and injury since 2015. Gurley’s chronic knee problems even kept him out of the last two regular-season games this year. Will Gurley have to struggle again in 2019? Coach Sean McVay says his player may find relief with a personal cell procedure. Find out how personal cell therapy can benefit you – even if you’re not playing in the NFL.
The Causes of Knee Pain
If you’re a professional athlete like Gurley, the Kansas City Chiefs’ Jamaal Charles or the Tennessee Titans’ Chris Johnson, you likely have put a lot of wear and tear on your knees with training, twice-a-day practices and taking hits on the field. But other things can cause knee pain, too. Aging, osteoarthritis and overuse are common culprits behind painful knees and can cause pain, swelling, stiffness and decreased range of motion.
Treating Knee Pain
Conventional treatments for knee pain often include pain relievers, anti-inflammatory medications and steroids in combination with the R.I.C.E. method (Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation). These treatments can help slow down the progression of knee pain, but over time, the conditions that cause the pain can worsen, leaving you limping and struggling to go up and down the stairs or even just walking. The next step could be a full joint-replacement surgery, but does it have to be? Joint-replacement procedures have their benefits, but like any other surgical procedure, they have their risks, too.
Risks of joint-replacement procedures include complications such as infection and the risk of rejection. Other negatives associated with the procedure include the fact that artificial joints only last between 10 and 15 years, which means that if you’re very young, you could need two or more knee-replacement procedures in your lifetime. Not to mention, recovery from joint replacement takes time. On average, you can expect to be down for several weeks and need physical therapy to learn how to use your new joint.
The Benefits of Personal Cells for Knee Injuries
Personal cell therapy is an alternative to conventional knee pain treatments. What are its benefits? Some patients report:
- Reduced pain and inflammation
